World Literature Criticism
VIDEO INTRODUCTION
BIG 6 Process for finding information
1. Task Definition
Define the information problem
Identify information needed
THIS REQUIRES PRE-READING and thinking
-Which author?
-Which literary work? poem, novel, drama, essay, poet
Determine the scope of the project-What are you going to do for this project?
From your Research paper handout-----
-An author (his literary success and popular themes, including examples)
-Compare/contrast two (or more) poems which address similar or opposing themes and are written by the same author
-How a specific character in a book or play acts, changes or thinks
-One type of character in several books/plays by the same author
-Parallel relationships between characters in several books/plays
Make sure that as you are looking, that you think about whether there is enough information to support your topic. for Example: ( I am using an American writer for this example)
George R.R Martin (1948 – ) He is an American author of fantasy. His most famous work is A Song of Ice and Fire. Later was adapted for the screen as Game of Thrones. There isn't a lot in a literature search about him nor about his work. So although famous, would not be a good choice.
