1. Author.---- List the author by Last Name, First Name. (ex.: Kolata, Gina. Learning to Fly. Farrar and Straus, 1999.)
Looking at the work, use what is given: Watson, Sam J. Watson, S. J. Watson, Sam. Titles: Do NOT list titles such as Dr., Sir, Saint, St. Do NOT list degrees such as PhD, MLS, DDS. DO list suffixes such as Sr., Jr., II (ex.: King, Martin Luther, Jr.)
NO AUTHOR -If there is no author, then there is no author. Potentially there will be a contributor such as an editor (will go in #4-other contributor)
TWO AUTHORS - BOTH will be listed in the order in which they appear and the format will be Last name, First name and First name Last name. (ex.: Kolata, Gina and Sam Watson)
THREE OR MORE AUTHORS - only the first author will be listed with the words "et al." (that means "and others" in Latin) (ex. : Kolata, Gina, et al.)
CORPORATE AUTHOR - if in place of an author there is a corporate author, or commission, committee, or government agency then put the corporate author in the author space (ex.: Committee on aging.)
HOWEVER!!!!!
If the AUTHOR and the PUBLISHER are the SAME----don't put the corporate name in the AUTHOR space. Put it in the PUBLISHER space (#7)
